Obituary for Carol Ann Martin (Boulting)

Carol A. Martin, 62 of 7828 Trails Edge Dr., passed away Tuesday, May 22, 2012 at home of her daughter Lisa from complications of COPD. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Friday, May 25th at St. Joseph the Worker Catholic Church with the Rev. Mark Ressler officiating. Burial will be in Mt. Olivet Cemetery, Key West, Iowa. Friends may call from 3:00 7:00 Thursday, May 24th at the Egelhof, Siegert & Casper Westview Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 2659 JFK Rd. where a parish scripture wake service will be recited at 6:30 p.m.
Carol was born on August 12, 1949 in Cascade, Iowa. She was the first born child of John and Mary (Hanfelt) Boulting. Carol attended school in Dubuque through her sophomore year when her family moved to Dyersville. She graduated from Western Dubuque high school in 1967. After graduation, she worked at Ertl Toys and Flexsteel.
On April 10, 1976, Carol was united in marriage to Donald C. Martin in the house they enjoyed 32 years together until Donalds passing on February 24, 2009. Carol loved being a homemaker and took pride in always providing a warm and loving home for her family. She was a member of St. Joseph the Worker Catholic Church.

Carols passion was bird watching, feeding orioles and humming birds. Her hobbies were playing cards, crossword puzzles and gardening with her daughter and grandsons. Her true joy and fulfillment came by spending time with her grandchildren, Hunter and Conner Lahey. She especially enjoyed taking them to the park, playing games on the computer and reading their favorite stories.
Surviving Carol are her daughters, Lisa Kelly (Martin) of Dubuque and Jody (Tony) Lahey of Sherrill, IA., two grandsons, Hunter and Conner Lahey; her former son-in-law Rick Kelly; two brothers Steve (Jeanne) Boulting of Dubuque and David Boulting of Guttenberg, IA.; one sister Diana Ollendick of Dyersville, IA.; a sister-in-law, Carolyn Cookie (Paul) Bodish of Durango, IA.; a brother-in-law Arnold Arnie (Sue) Martin of Kirkland, WA.

She was preceded in death by her husband Donald; her parents, John and Mary Boulting; father-in-law and mother-in-law Arnold and Viola Martin and a sister-in-law, Marilyn Maggie Bryson.

A Carol A. Martin memorial fund has been established.

Carols family is thankful for the care given by Dr. Schope, the nurses and staff at Stonehill Care Center and Lutheran Services, as well as the staff of Hospice of Dubuque, especially Barb. In addition, the family extends gratitude and blessing to family and friends for their compassionate care, kindness and prayers during her illness.
