Dorothy L. Lester, 88, of Dubuque, died Monday, October 20, 2014 at Stonehill Care Center. There will be no public services. The Egelhof, Siegert & Casper Westview Funeral Home and Crematory is in charge of arrangements.
Dorothy was born August 28, 1926 in Kennebec, South Dakota, daughter of William and Sadie (Peiffer) Takes. The family moved to Cascade, Iowa when Dorothy was a child. She later moved to Dubuque.
She was a homemaker who raised three children. She loved nature, especially flowers and watching birds. She also enjoyed music.
Dorothy is survived by three children, Kenneth (Debra) Lester of Epworth, Nancy Rosemeyer of Dubuque and Kristine Feldman of Dubuque; ten grandchildren, Tracy Ede, Tina (Todd) Priest, Jacob (April) Moyer, John (Natalie) Lester, Cheyanne (Phillip) Hoeger, Chad Fury, Robin (Matt) Folstad, Leah Rosemeyer, Jeffrey Feldman and Eric Feldman; 11 great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her former spouse, Walter Lester; son in law, Tony Rosemeyer; and siblings, Paul and Lawrence Takes, Veronica Leneberg, Agnes Walske, Kathryn Teichman, Martha Bousselot, and Irene Freiburger.
Memorials may be made to the Dorothy Lester Memorial Fund.
