Obituary for Elaine D Tippe (Taylor)

Elaine D. Tippe, 93, of Dubuque died Wednesday, November 19, 2014 at Bethany Home. Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Monday, December 1, 2014 at the Egelhof, Siegert and Casper Westview Funeral Home, 2659 Kennedy Road where friends may call December 1, from 11 a.m. until time of service. Burial will be in Linwood Cemetery.
Elaine was born July 21, 1921 in Dubuque, daughter of Stanley M. and Amanda (Petersen) Taylor. She graduated from Dubuque Senior High School in 1939 and from University of Dubuque in 1946. She taught elementary school, first in Maynard, IA then at Jackson Elementary in Dubuque.
She married Delbert Casteel in 1942. He was killed in action in 1944 during WWII. She married Leo Tippe March 20, 1948. He preceded her in death March 1, 2014.
Elaine was a lifelong member of St. Luke's United Methodist Church. She enjoyed swimming, painting, reading, traveling and museums.
She is survived by two sons, John (Vera Louise) Tippe of Dubuque and Lee (Carol) Tippe of Iowa City; two granddaughters, Allison (John Moore) Tippe of Milwaukee, WI and Laurel Tippe of Chicago, IL. She is also survived by two nieces, Helen Rowe of Dubuque and Ann Taylor of Missouri and two nephews James Reizer of California and David Reizer of Arizona.
She was also preceded in death by a sister, Dawn Reizer, two brothers, Stanley J. Taylor and David C. Taylor and an uncle, William J. Petersen.
Flowers are welcomed, but the family would prefer memorials to Bethany Home or St. Luke's United Methodist Church in Elaine's memory.
