Obituary for Robert Harry

Robert W. Harry, 103 of Bethany Home, formerly of 1730 N. Algona Street died Tuesday, January 27, 2015 at Bethany Home.
Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m., Friday, Jan. 30 at St. Anthony’s Catholic Church with the Rev. Steven Rosonke officiating. Military Honors will be accorded by the American Legion, Post 6 of Dubuque after the funeral mass. Burial will be in Mt. Calvary Cemetery. Friends may call from 10:00 a.m. to 10:45 a.m. Friday at the Church. The Egelhof, Siegert and Casper Funeral Home and Crematory, 2659 JFK Road is in charge of the arrangements.
Robert was born on October 4, 1911 in Ft. Pierre, South Dakota the son of John W. and Carrie E. (Barkley) Harry.
On November 27, 1941 he married Frances Welty at St. Mary’s Church in Dubuque.
He was employed as a Factory Worker and retired as Department Head at Midland Laboratory in 1975.
Robert served our country in the United States Army during WWII. He received the Purple Heart for his participation in the invasion of the Philippines.
He was a member of St. Anthony’s Catholic Church.
Surviving is his wife, Frances; children, Robert S. (Loretta) Harry and Barbara Ann (Richard) Esser; 4 grandchildren; and great- children.
He was preceded in death by his parents; 4 brothers; 2 sisters, and 2 grandchildren, Terry Lee Esser and Robert J. Harry.
