Obituary for LeRoy L. Price

LeRoy Louis Price, 89, of Oak Park Place died Friday, March 6, 2015 at ManorCare Health Services.
Memorial services will be held at 1:00 p.m., Wednesday, March 11 at the Mueller Memorial Chapel, in Linwood Cemetery. The Egelhof, Siegert and Casper Westview Funeral Home and Crematory, 2659 Kennedy Road is in charge of the arrangements.
LeRoy was born on April 23, 1925 in Dubuque, IA the son of Harry and Stella (Chase) Price.
He served in the United States Army during WWII.
On August 30, 1946 he married Dorothy L. Matz. She preceded him in death on July 3, 2013.
LeRoy was a teller of tales and a mender of things, whose singing and violin playing instilled in his children and grandchildren a love of music. His painting and drawings gave a desire to create. His sense of humor and love of the Hawkeyes and Cubs taught great things can come to those who wait and in the latter’s case and wait and wait and wait. His generosity extended to giving treats to sanitation workers and fellow employees at the Pack. His childhood and military stories inspired a daughter to write. He was a builder of bonfires on summer nights when he taught one to spot the constellations in Heaven where he now resides.
Surviving are his children, Susan Lynn (Gordon) Olseen, of Tipton, IA. And Paulette (Terry) Myers, of Dubuque; grandchildren, Kristine (Christopher) Cheruk and Steven (Angela) Olseen; and great- grandchildren.
He was also preceded in death by his parents.
