William J. O’Hearn, 100, of Dubuque died Thursday, January 2, 2014 at Heritage Manor. Funeral Mass will be 10:00 am, Saturday, January 18, 2014 at St. Anthony's Catholic Church conducted by Rev. Steve Rosonke. Family will greet friends 5:00 pm - 7:00 pm, Friday, January 17, 2014 at Egelhof, Siegert & Casper Westview Funeral Home & Crematory, 2659 John F. Kennedy Rd. Burial will be in Mt. Olivet Cemetery where military Rites will be accorded by American Legion Post #6.

William was born February 1, 1913 in Dubuque, Iowa, son of William F. and Elizabeth (Hahn) O’Hearn. He graduated from Dubuque Senior High and Bayless Business College. He served in the US Navy during WWII.
He married Lois Schmidt on April 5, 1945 at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church, Dubuque. She preceded him in death on June 2, 1999.

He worked for Swift Chemical Company for over 24 years before his retirement in 1976.
He was a member of St. Anthony’s Catholic Church, and St. Anthony’s Council #8384 Knights of Columbus and Dubourg Assembly Fourth Degree. He enjoyed woodworking, needlework, and walking.

William is survived by two sons, Terrence and Thomas Michael of Los Angeles, and 12 nieces and nephews.

He was also preceded in death by his parents and his brothers, Robert O’Hearn and Thomas C. O'Hearn.
