Obituary for Robert D Anderson

Robert D. "Hunk" Anderson, 89, of Assisi Village died Saturday, Feb. 21, 2015.
Funeral services will be 10:00 a.m., Wednesday, Feb. 25, at St. Joseph the Worker Catholic Church. Burial will be in Mt. Olivet Cemetery where military honors will be accorded. Friends may call from 3 to 8 p.m., Tuesday at St. Joseph the Worker Catholic Church where a wake service will begin at 7:30 p.m.
Hunk was born on May 6, 1925 in Dubuque, the son of Dewell and Mildred (Brennan) Anderson.
He married Mary Jo Duggan on September 7, 1946.
He served in the United States Marine Corps during WWII and was a Purple Heart recipient.
He was employed at Anderson- Weber for 52 years.
Hunk had a great love of God, family, and was an avid Notre Dame fan. He will be missed by many.
Surviving are his children, Bob (Debbie) Anderson, Jody (David) Rowell, Peggy (Stan) Olszewski, Chris (LuAnne) Anderson, Amy (Mark Hill) Anderson, and Nancy (Jaffer) Bashey; 20 grandchildren; 11 great- grandchildren; and sister, Mary (Don) Hesselman.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Jo; daughter, Teri Anderson; and grandchildren, Chris Anderson Jr. and Heather Klauer.

In lieu of flowers memorials may be given to GiGi's Play House "Achievement for Individuals with Down Syndrome" and the Dubuque Boys & Girls Club.
