Beverly W. Emary 90, of Dubuque, passed away Saturday, February 13, 2016 at Silvercrest Garner Assisted Living, Davenport, Iowa. Friends may call from 11:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. Wednesday, February 24, 2016 at the Egelhof, Siegert & Casper Westview Funeral Home and Crematory, 2659 JFK Rd. There will be no public funeral service. Private burial will be held at Linwood Cemetery.
Beverly was born on April 22, 1925 in Des Moines, Iowa, the daughter of Henry and Jessie VanGrud. She received her education in Des Moines, IA. Des Moines North High School and Broadlawns School of Nursing. She was employed by the State of Iowa, Department of Health and Department of Public Safety. She later became a medical assistant for Dr. D. Walter. On November 23, 1963, Beverly became the beloved wife of Warren F. Emary, the two walked in each other's shadow for 41 years. In 1965, they moved to Dubuque where Beverly worked as a care giver at Luther Manor. After Warren's retirement in 1988, they enjoyed traveling, going south during the winter months and spending time at the casinos. Beverly took great pride in all her children and their accomplishments.
Surviving are her children, Jacklynn (Darrell) Draper of Davenport, IA; Dean Emary of Indianola, IA and Penney Smith of Des Moines, IA; 9 grandchildren; 9 great grandchildren and 2 great great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband Warren; her daughter Patsy, her great grandson Christopher and a half sister Lillian
