Obituary for Dorothy A. Callahan

Dorothy A. Callahan, 85, of Dubuque passed away Saturday January 26, 2019 at Sunnycrest Manor in Dubuque. Visitation will be held Wednesday January 30, 2019 from 4-7 p.m. at the Egelhof, Siegert & Casper Westview Funeral Home and Crematory at 2659 JFK Rd where a parish wake service will be held at 4 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be at 11:30 a.m., Thursday at St. Columbkille’s Catholic Church. Burial will be in Mt. Olivet Cemetery.
Dorothy was born May 29, 1933 the daughter of Ellen (Anderson) & Alvah Ford. Dorothy married Raymond J. Callahan at St. Columbkille Catholic Church on April 4, 1959, he preceded her in death on March 22 1975. Dorothy is originally from Fort Dodge, Iowa but attended Senior High School in Dubuque. She enjoyed playing cards and bingo with her friends at Sunnycrest Manor, she especially loved Euchre. Dorothy was a homemaker for most of her life and was a great cook known for her famous glazed ham and mashed potatoes. More than anything Dorothy enjoyed spending time with her family and her friends at Sunnycrest, she will be greatly missed by all.
She is survived by her children Bruce Callahan of Tujunga, California, Mona (Kevin) Dunwoody of Dubuque, IA, and Brian (Kathy) Callahan of Ft. Myers, FL; Daughter-in-laws Linda (Scott) Callahan of Dubuque, IA, and Jill (Michael) Pankow of Dubuque, IA; Grandchildren Daniel (wendy) Callahan, Sean Callahan, Ashley Callahan, and Samantha Callahan; three step grandchildren Jamie, Krista, and Jonathan Dean; one great-granddaughter; and two sisters Mildred Feddersen of Dubuque, IA, Inez (Bill) Vondran of Dubuque, IA; brother and sister in laws Jeanette Callahan, Marilyn Callahan and Barb Callahan, Jack Peacock Tony (Betty) Callahan, Dennis (Shirley) Donovan, Mary Ann Dalsing, and Pat Voight. Dorothy is also survived by her special friends Sheryl and Don Cook.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband Raymond J. Callahan; Two sons Dennis and Steve Callahan; three brothers Ralph, Willard, and Jim Ford; and one sister Norma Peacock; In-laws Florence Callahan-Martin, Jack, Don, Chuck Callahan, and Nilus Dalsing.
