Obituary for Bonita J Roussel

Bonita “Bonnie” J. Roussel, 81, of Dubuque passed away on Tuesday, February 12, 2019 at Mercy Medical Center, Dubuque.
Mass of Christian Burial will be 1 p.m., Friday, February 15 at Holy Spirit Parish-Holy Trinity Catholic Church. Burial will be in Mt. Calvary Cemetery. Friends may call from 9 am – 12:45 pm., Friday at the church. The Egelhof, Siegert & Casper Westview Funeral Home and Crematory, 2659 JFK Rd. is in charge of the arrangements.
Bonnie was born on August 27, 1937 in Dubuque, the daughter of Herbert and Lorraine (Cushing) Becker.
She married Gerald “Jerry” Roussel on December 29, 1956 at Holy Trinity Catholic Church.
Bonnie proudly worked at Vallet Foods for 25 years. She enjoyed lunches with her sisters and cousins, and suppers at Marco’s. She also enjoyed her monthly lunches with her classmates and her annual ICA class alumni day.
She enjoyed playing cards with her card club for over 50 years, keeping active with her many friends at TOPS Club, and dancing and singing at the Roussel Jams.
Bonnie cherished time spent with her grandchildren and great- grandchildren. She attended many of their sporting events, plays and activities.
Bonnie enjoyed the little things in life. Her positivity and loving nature will be missed by many.
She is survived by her husband, Jerry; children, Julie (Bill) Reichle, Bill (Rose) Roussel, Linda (Rick) Rogers, Joe (Deanne) Roussel, and Jane Roussel; son-in-law, Scott McElmeel; 12 grandchildren; 14 great- grandchildren and one on the way; one great- great- grandchild; sister, Jolene (Bruce) Drapeau; sisters-in-law, Babe Becker and Barbara Becker; and brothers-in-law, Ray Roussel, Marion Weist and Al “Whitey” Nauman.
She was preceded in death by her parents; daughter, Patricia “Patsy” McElmeel; siblings, Jack Becker, Donny Becker, Bob (Anne) Becker, Pat (Tom) Schee, Lynn (Bob) Jochum; brothers and sisters-in-law, Millie (Bill) Bruck, Mary Lou “Red” Roussel, Bob (Rita) Roussel, Dorothy (Buster) Welty, Mary Nauman, and Geraldine “Dean” Weist.
A Bonita Roussel Memorial Fund has been established.
The family would like to thank her granddaughter, Maria, for giving Bonnie extra special care, and to the nursing staff at Mercy Hospital.
