Obituary for Shirley Deutmeyer (Fink)

Shirley Ann Deutmeyer, 88, of Dubuque, passed away peacefully on Monday, March 11, 2019, surrounded by her family at Stonehill Care Center.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, March 16 at Church of the Resurrection, with visitation from 9:00 to 10:45 prior to the service. Burial will be at Mt. Calvary. The Egelhof, Siegert & Casper Westview Funeral Home and Crematory, 2659 JFK Road is assisting the family.

Shirley was born on May 30, 1930, the daughter of Elmer and Agnes (Schadle) Fink. She married the love of her life, Duane D. Deutmeyer at Sacred Heart Catholic Church. They celebrated 66 loving and joyous years of marriage together.

Shirley was employed at Woolworths for 20 years and supported her husband with his various business ventures. Her greatest joy was being a homemaker, mother, grandmother and great- grandmother.
She also enjoyed square dancing and camping with Duane, and loved living in the country on their thirty acres of land. She cherished time spent with her family.

She is survived by her children, Duey (Jill) Deutmeyer of Long Grove, IA, Dawn (Joe) Hancock of Dubuque, Dan (Janet) Deutmeyer of Ilwaso, WA, Drew (Sherilyn) Deutmeyer of Littleton, CO, Daria Fleege of Dubuque, Darrell (Kelley) Deutmeyer of Dubuque, IA, Dina (Mike) Kettmann of Bellevue, IA, and Dirk (Rhonda) Deutmeyer of Epworth, IA; 20 grandchildren, 25 great grandchildren; sister, Mary (Jack) Parkin, of Dubuque; brother, Elmer “Finky” (Sherry) Fink, of Dubuque; and sisters-in-law, DiAnn Ahearn, Darlene Ferrie and Katie Deutmeyer.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Duane; and granddaughter, Robin Deutmeyer.

The family would like to thank the staff at Hospice of Dubuque, the staff in the Memory Care Unit, and Whitney and Vanessa at Stonehill Care Center for their wonderful care of Shirley.
