Obituary for Kenneth John Garner

Kenneth J. Garner, 60 of Dubuque passed away Tuesday March 12, 2019 at home. Visitation will be held on Saturday March 23, 2019 from 9:30-11:30 a.m. at St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church in Cassville, WI. Funeral Mass will immediately follow at 11:30 a.m. with Rev. John Meinholz officiating. Private family burial will take place at a later date.

Kenneth was born on October 6, 1958 in Dubuque, IA the son of Stanley and Rita (Pottebaum) Garner. Ken was a graduate of Cassville High School and attended Southwest Technical College earning both arc and tig welding certification. He went on to use his welding degree with work at National Vendors out of Missouri for twenty two years before moving back to the area when he began employment with John Deere in Dubuque in 2010 where he was still currently employed. In his free time Ken enjoyed deer hunting in Wisconsin and Missouri, where he also had a home. He enjoyed a good card game whenever he had the opportunity to play. Ken grew up listening to Elvis Presley and was a fan all of his life making several trips to Graceland over the years. He was a die-hard St. Louis Cardinals fan and loved watching their games. He enjoyed woodworking and made many one of a kind pieces for his mother, Rita, and often built rocking horses for great nieces and nephews. Ken enjoyed gardening as well, one of his favorite things to grow was strawberries.

He is survived by his mother Rita Garner; four siblings Shirley (Dean) Kent, Marilyn (Ed) Everson, Donna (Bill) Richter and Dale Garner; he is also survived by six nieces and nephews: Tracy, Stacy, Sarah, Jordan, Melissa and Bryan and ten great nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his father Stanley Garner.

In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the American Heart Association, Southwest Technical College or to the Kenneth J. Garner Memorial Fund. Donations can be sent to Box 285 Cassville, WI 53806.
