Considering Cremation?

Are you considering Cremation? Learn how we address the top 4 cremation concerns of Dubuque families.

Concern #1 – Fair, up-front pricing

Sadly, some funeral homes follow an "oops" approach to cremation pricing. They quote an attractive price over the phone to win your business. But when you come into the funeral home to make arrangements, you find out that the person you spoke with neglected to include some items in the quote.

At Egelhof, Siegert & Casper, we provide upfront all-inclusive pricing. We will ask a few questions and then give a single price that includes everything you will need.

If for any reason, we miss a cremation expense in our quote, we will absorb the cost, not you.

Concern #2 – Wondering if they receive the correct remains

A quick Google search on the term "cremation mistake" returns 765,000 shocking results. Page after page of examples in which unintentional mistakes resulted in the family receiving the wrong ashes back from a crematory or funeral home.

We believe you should never have to question whether we return the correct ashes to your family. That is why we have our own private and regulated onsite crematory.

Our crematory is operated by certified technicians who follow a detailed multi-step security process that greatly exceeds industry standards. For example, we have a strict rule about having only one deceased person in the crematory at any time. By doing this, we eliminate a potential error and keep your loved one safe and secure.

Concern #3 – Having the opportunity to say goodbye

Saying goodbye to your loved one is never easy. Unfortunately, in today's culture, many people try to skip this step. The sad reality is that failing to say goodbye to someone you love leaves emotional wounds that may never heal.

At Egelholf, Siegert & Casper, the immediate family is given the opportunity for a half-hour Private Farewell in one of our visitation rooms whenever possible. If an open visitation is planned, the Private Farewell is typically scheduled to precede the public time.

On a practical level, this an essential step in our security procedures. On an emotional level, this private time helps family members as they mourn the loss.

Concern #4 – The timing of the cremation

The timing of the cremation is a major concern for many families. It is common for families to have the body present for visitation and funeral service and want to have the cremated remains available the next day for interment or scattering while the entire family is still gathered.

One advantage of having our own crematory is that your loved one’s cremation can be scheduled to fit the needs of your family.

This type of express service is something for which most crematories charge extra. However, we always go above and beyond to meet your schedule at no additional cost to you.

On rare occasions a cremation will be delayed because of the lack of state-mandated medical signatures. Should this happen we will let you know right away so you can plan accordingly.
