Obituary for Anna M Weitz (Weitz)

Anna Marie Walsh Weitz, daughter of Mike and Krista, passed away in her mother's arms on May 22, 2012.

Anna was born on November 15, 2006. Though she only lived to be 5 years old, she lived life to the fullest. She had great passion for many things, but none as great as her love for family. She has written hundreds of love notes to her parents and always showed her great love of family by words and actions. She particularly adored her brothers and cousins and treasured all moments with them. She was always so excited to see them, even if she had just seen them the day before. She cherished getting together with extended family at taco parties. Though she loved the tacos, being with family was what it was all about.

Anna enjoyed attending pre-school at St. Anthony's School. She had many friends there and loved her teachers immensely. Anna loved to go camping and everything that came with it. She loved swimming, camp fires, biking, snacking all day and especially having lots of time to play with her friends. While she loved playing with dolls, Barbie's and playing dress up; she also loved wrestling her brothers and going to the creek to look for frogs. Anna adored her dog, Bently or Bentlers as she often called him. Bentlers always looked for a spot near Anna to sit. Anna loved to dance and was proud to take classes at Studio 5678 while she was able. Music was always one of her passions. She was known for her long playlist and often played it loudly. Sometimes an impromptu dance party would follow.

Through her 19 month battle with cancer, Anna endured many things, though she rarely complained. While she didn't always want to leave home to go the hospital or the doctor's office; she always enjoyed seeing her friends, nurses and doctors. She loved the Child Life Staff as well as Dance Marathon volunteers. She spent most of her time at the hospital playing in the playroom, at activities or anywhere she could.

Anna was known for having a huge heart and being very sweet. She also had a lot of spunk and definitely had a mind of her own. Anna gave world class hugs and was one of the best snugglers around. She could light up an entire room with her smile and melted many hearts with her dimples. She will be missed more than words can express.

Anna is survived by her parents, Mike and Krista (Walsh); brothers, Noah and John; Grandparents, John and Sheila (Hendricks) Walsh and Larry and Marikka (Reid) Weitz, all from Dubuque; aunts and uncles, Terrence and Kelly (Walsh) Hunt from Rocky River Ohio; Monte Pedersen and Kimberly Walsh from Galena, IL; Steve and Jennifer Weitz from Bettendorf, IA; cousins, Mackenzie, Matthew, Catherine and Maria Hunt, Maren Pedersen, Allyson and Simon Weitz; a Great Grandmother, Anna Reid and many great aunts, great uncles and cousins.

She was preceded in death by her Great Grandparents, William and Doloras Hendricks, Ignatius and Dorothy Walsh and Paul and Marguerite Weitz and an Uncle Greg Weitz.
