Obituary for Donald Boal

Donald Boal, 88, of Dubuque passed away on Thursday, January 10, 2019 at home, surrounded by his family.
Donald was born on November 19, 1930 in Dubuque, the son of Elmer and Mary (Johns) Boal. Don graduated from Senior High School in Dubuque in 1949. He joined the Airforce and served in Europe. He met his beautiful wife, Dagmar Hafner in Frankfurt, Germany and they married on April 12, 1954. Upon his return to the states, Don worked for John Deere for 30 years. He was an accomplished guitar player and played with The Country Kings and The Upper Main Street Jazz Band. He loved food, drink, family and golfing.
He is survived by his wife, Dagmar; and his children: Jeff Boal of Dubuque; Susan Garrison of Des Moines; Julie Aslin of Appleton, Wisconsin; and Tina Woolley of Grand Lake, Colorado. He also had eight grand -children and eight great-grand -children.
He was preceded in death by his parents, two sisters (Corrine Boal and Darlene Goffinet), and a son, Robert Jackson.
To celebrate Donald's life an open house will take place at the Moracco Supper Club from 12:30-3:30 p.m. on Saturday, January 19, 2019. The Egelhof, Siegert and Casper Westview Funeral Home and Crematory, 2659 JFK is assisting the family.
