Dear Mark ~
Oh, our sweet, sweet Dorie! We have lost such a lovely woman with a kind heart and loving spirit. Your beloved mom celebrates the joys of heaven with the angelic hosts. What an amazing life she lived!
Our memories of Dorie span decades during the days at Betty Jane Candies at 965 Main Street. She was the only employee I remember who worked during the entire three generations of the company. From working as a young girl out of high school under the founder of the company, a Greek immigrant, Peter Kloston, through the span of forty-plus years to her retirement under John Heinz Sr and John Heinz Jr, Dorie packed thousands and thousands of boxes of chocolates, myriads of Valentine heart boxes, hundreds and hundreds of chocolate Easter eggs, and provided superb service to multitudes of candy customers. In all the many years I have worked with your dear mom, I have never once witnessed her to be in a bad mood, speak ill of her co-workers, or even frown! She always had a smile on her face and a twinkle in her eye! She had such pride in her work as though it was her own company. Dorie became a true icon of Betty Jane Candies -- she represented the company with character, class, and charisma!
May the Lord bless you, Mark, with peace and comfort. May the amazing memories of your beloved mom fill your heart with joy. May she sleep in heavenly peace. Well done, Dorie, thou good and faithful servant of the Lord. We will always remember you!

Our love,
John P Heinz, Daniel and Linnae (Heinz) Hayford

Mark,

My deepest sympathy on the passing of your mom. I can remember the many times she put up with all of us who gathered at your house and she always had a most lovable and welcoming smile on her face.
