Gerald C. Meyer, 86, of Dubuque died Sunday, January 13, 2019. Visitation will be from 3 to 7 pm Wednesday at the Egelhof, Siegert and Casper Westview Funeral Home and Crematory, 2659 Kennedy Road where there will be a parish wake service at 6:30 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be 10 a.m. Thursday at Holy Spirit Parish-Holy Trinity, followed by burial in Mt. Calvary Cemetery.

Gerald was born October 2, 1932 in Dubuque, son of Edmund and Barbara (Boyer) Meyer. He graduated from Loras Academy in 1950.
He married Jeanne Anne Jochum on July 26th, 1952 in Dubuque, Iowa. She preceded him in death in June of 2007.
Gerald worked as a printer for 47 years retiring in 1997. He worked for the Telegraph Herald and Regency Thermographers.
He was an Indianapolis Colts and Chicago White Sox fan and loved attending his grandkids and great grandkids sporting events.
He is survived by three children, Dennis (Kate) Meyer of Dubuque, Sue (Merle) Ries of Bernard and Tim (Louise) Meyer of Bondurant, IA; six grandchildren, Nikki Bechen of Dubuque, Iowa .Andy (Jonica) Ries of Lowden, IA, Shannon (Nic) Kremer of Cascade, IA, Audra (Aaron) Riddle of Clarinda, IA, Alysia (Garreth) Webster of Bondrant, IA and Cody Ries of Dubuque; and 12 great grandchildren, Skyler, Jaden and Luke Bechen; Kaycie and Mollie Ries; Ava, Isaac and Maddox Kremer; Matilda and Penny Webster; and Cooper and Cole Riddle.
He is also survived by brother in law, William Frederick; sisters in law, Joan Wagner, Pat Schumacher, Carole Thul and Delee Jochum and brother in law, Gary (Donna) Jochum; and many nieces and nephews.
He is proceeded in death by his parents Edmund & Barbara Meyer, his in laws Francis & Leona Jochum, a sister Arlette Frederick and brother Leonard Frederick
He was also preceeded in death by in laws, Mary (William) Fransen, Robert (Lynn) Jochum, Dorothy (Lyle) Reed, Dave Schumacher, Leone (George) Reed, Dave Thul, Wayne Jochum, Donald Jochum and Kenneth (Caroline) Neely.
