So sorry to hear of Jan's passing. You all have our heartfelt sympathy. Grew up across the fence from each other, as the older generation would say. Our families worked together and celebrated together also. I fondly remember when Jan and I would play in the attic of the old house. So many rooms to hide in. You all have our prayers.

My deepest sympathies are extended to you, my friend Jan's family. You don't know me, but I knew your Mom well. We met through Birds and Blooms chat board and actually met numerous times in person. My brother lived In Farley and when I'd go to visit him, Jan would often stop over. Back in 2009 I rode with your Mom to a flower gathering in Virginia. I am truly surprised your Mom didn't die in a car accident before She spent the night at my house in Lime Springs, Iowa a couple of times. She and a friend from South Dakota flew with me to Rochester NY in 2011 to another flower gathering. She and the gal from SD were both flying for the 1st time in their lives, so I had my work cut out for me keeping them calmed down. I have only talked with her a few times since Allen's death. She called and talked quite some time when my husband passed away in 2017. We have sent private messages to each other on our present flower chat board.
If you'd like to read some of the kind words expressed to your family you can read here. Charlene Gates

My deepest sympathy to Jan's family. I met your Mom through the Birds & Blooms chat group many years ago. I rode along with her to a get-together picnic in Michigan. I saw her at a couple other picnics here in Iowa. I'm from NE Iowa but many of my mom relatives are from the Dubuque area. I stopped at her house on the farm on one of my trips. She was pretty quiet on our board after your Dad passed. I could tell she missed him terribly. Jan, I know you're resting in peace now that you're back with Allen. We never met in person. We met on a Birds & Blooms message board back when most were wary of the internet and who you would meet online. Our friendship grew over the years. Jaowl was a wonderful person to know - cdnglasslady!
