Joan Esther Johnson, 88, of Dubuque, IA, formerly of Chicago, passed away on Tuesday, January 26, 2021. She was born February 28, 1932, in Chicago, the daughter of Genevieve Skarski and Ralph Moskovitz and Lucille Moskovitz. She married Arnold Johnson on November 21, 1953, in Chicago. She was employed by Walgreens and Prudential Insurance. She was artistic, a talented gardener, loving caregiver to many dear ones, loved pretty things, gave her heart and all generously, loved people, and had a strong faith in God.
Survivors include her husband of 67 years, Arnold; her sister, Katherine (Ronald) Pearson, her nieces Maryann Bronowski, Bonnie (Thomas) Belskis, Peggy (Bryce) Burkman, Alice (Matthew) Lundh and Anna (John) Lu; her great nieces and nephews Doug (Paula), Gregg (Carmen) David (Vicki) Bronowski, Molly D Moskovitz, Nikolas, Rachel and Danielle Burkman, Benjamin and Jack Belskis and Madeline Lucille Lu; several great-great nieces and nephews; and sister-in-law, Donna Evensen.
Joan was preceded in death by her parents; her sister Lorretta (Walt) Baumann, brother David R. Moskovitz, nephew David R. Moskovitz, Jr., parents-in-law Anna and Oscar Johnson, and sister-in-law Vivian (George) Parker.
A memorial service will be held when it is safe for family and friends to gather. Egelhoff, Casper & Siegert Funeral Home, Dubuque, IA, is in charge of arrangements. Burial will be in Ridgewood Memorial Park, Des Plaines, IL. Memorials may be made to Stonehill Care Center, Dubuque, IA.
