Obituary for Kaiden C Bass
Kaiden Chamberlain Bass, 18, left this world and went straight to Heaven on Thursday, February 28, 2019.
A celebration of his life will be from 2 to 8 pm, Saturday, at the Egelhof, Siegert and Casper Westview Funeral Home and Crematory, 2659 Kennedy Road where there will be a sharing of love and memories throughout.
Kaiden was born on July 16, 2000, at Mercy Hospital in Dubuque. He had fuzzy blonde hair, chubby little cheeks, gorgeous blue eyes, and a little dimple in his chin. The nurses commented on his perfect little looks and said his name “sounded like royalty”, something his mother never forgot.
When he was little, as soon as he could walk, he loved to play with his uncle’s tools, sometimes “fixing” things he probably shouldn’t have (scratching his uncle’s motorcycle and the family’s cars). He loved his red three-wheeler tricycle, which he rode for many years, even making it into the newspaper once riding his red trike thru a puddle. He loved the dogs he grew up with and going on hikes with them and walks by the river with his “Dia”. Dia is his maternal grandma. When he was learning to talk, he would say “Dia” instead of Grandma and to this day she is known to all by that nickname.
He started riding a razor scooter when he was just 4 years old. He went thru store bought one after store bought one and when the cheap ones from the local stores no longer kept up with his ever evolving tricks and ramps, he began ordering professional parts, piece-by-piece online. We lost track of how many times he customized the parts, took his scooter apart, and put them back together with the new ones. We also lost track of how much money we must have spent. He and his little brother spent hours building their own ramps and rails. His little brother Kam (his “Bud”) was his very best friend, he always included him and all their hobbies were done together. Their bond is unbreakable.
He aspired to be a Police Officer until Junior High or so and even mentioned wanting to be a Psychologist in High School. He never made fun of anyone or bullied anyone because of their ethnicity, sexual orientation, or beliefs. Kaiden was kind hearted and accepted people for who they are. He was soft spoken and genuinely sweet natured. He recently purchased a professional BMX bike that he was excited to get into when the weather warmed up. He liked playing games on his Xbox and PC with his friends.
Kaiden was a graduate of Wahlert High School in Dubuque, where he was loved and cared for by his wonderful teachers to whom we are forever grateful.
Kaiden loved his family more than anything else. He never asked anyone for anything. He was polite and caring. He was grateful and selfless. He was noble and too good for this world.
He is survived by his mother and father, Jordan (Josh Jansen) Bass and Bert (Barbara Cervantes) Carner; his siblings, Kameron, Danika, Gage, Logan, Alexis, Vanessa, Aryana and Dylan; his very special maternal Grandmother “Dia” Dana Bass and his Paternal Grandparents Joseph (Myleen) Bass and Julie and Rick Carner. His sweet and beloved Aunt Stacy Birch whom he cherished. He is also survived by his uncles, Brandon and Griffin Bass; his aunts Shannon (Ben) Averkamp, Tanya Carner, and Nora Mulgrew, all of Dubuque; his special Aunt and Uncle Margaret (Henkels) and Kyle Johnson; his nieces, Kalia and Ayla, many cousins; and finally, his beloved American Bulldog, Daisy.
We would like to thank the kindest and sweetest police officer we have ever met, Chief of Police, Mr. Tom Henneberry.
The very best for last, thank you, Kaiden. Thank you for everything you taught us about love and how to love. We are forever grateful for every second we had with you. We are honored and humbled by all the gifts you gave us.
In lieu of flowers, we ask that you slow down, take more time to remind all of those that are precious to you how much they mean to you, give them a hug, make them laugh, and tell them how much you love them every chance you get.
