Obituary for Richard Hennings

Richard J. “Dick” Hennings, 92, of Dubuque died December 7, 2018. Funeral service will be 11:30 a.m. Thursday, December 13 at Grace Point Evangelical Presbyterian Church where visitation will be held from 9 to 11:15 a.m. Burial will be in Linwood Cemetery.
Dick was born October 27, 1926 in Dubuque, son of Arthur and Ethel (Schilling) Hennings. He graduated from Dubuque Senior High School in 1947.
On October 24, 1954 he married Ramona Hartley at Mt. Hope Presbyterian Church, New Albin, Iowa.
He served in the US Army in Germany during the Korean War.
Dick worked at John Deere Dubuque Works for 36 years, retiring in 1983.
He was an active member of Grace Point Evangelical Presbyterian Church.
He is survived by his wife, Ramona Hennings of Dubuque; two sons, Lyle Hennings of Dubuque and James (Carol) Hennings of Dallas, Pennsylvania; four grandchildren, Katrina (Kyle) Coates, Natasha Hennings, Keysha (Stephen) Anderson and Kayla Hennings; two great grandchildren, Aubrey Jayne Coates and Jordan Daniel Coates.
He is also survived by a brother, Robert Hennings of Atlanta, Georgia; a sister, Dorothy Thomas of Delhi, Iowa; a brother in law, Robert Goodman of Dubuque and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; two sisters, Phyllis Goodman and Kay Wilcox; three brothers in law, Fred Thomas, Donald Wilcox and Herbert Gerdes; a sister in law, Georgine Hennings and two nephews, Duncan Goodman and Mark Wilcox.
The Egelhof, Siegert and Casper Westview Funeral Home and Crematory is in charge of arrangements.
A Richard Hennings Memorial Fund has been established.
The family would like to thank the nurses and staff at Unity Point Health-Finley, and Hospice of Dubuque for their care.
