Robert G. Brooks 91, of Dubuque, passed away Sunday, June 24, 2018. Friends may call from 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. Thursday, June 28, 2018 at the Egelhof, Siegert & Casper Westview Funeral Home and Crematory, 2659 JFK Rd. Military rites will be accorded by the American Legion Post #6 of Dubuque at 3:00 p.m. Burial will be in Dubuque Memorial Gardens.
Bob was born on October 6, 1926 in Waukon, Iowa, the son of Harold and Hazel (Dee) Brooks. He married Eunice Kartman in Galena, Illinois. She preceded him in death on October 23, 2015. Bob was employed at John Deere Dubuque Works for 37 years, retiring in 1983 and was a Navy veteran of WWII. He was a member of the American Legion Post #6 of Dubuque and the VFW. In his earlier years, Bob enjoyed fishing and hunting.
Surviving are his children, Barbara Eveland of Cuba City, WI, Ron (Judi) Brooks of Davenport, IA, Donna (Joe) Jacobsmeier and Tom (Molly) Brooks both of Dubuque, IA; 8 grandchildren; 19 great grandchildren, 5 great great grandchildren and his sister, Betty Jane Kauntz of Dubuque, IA.
He was preceded in death by his son Mark Brooks in 1973; 2 brothers Leon and Donald and his sister, Anna Mae Lowen.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to Hospice of Dubuque.
Robert’s family wishes to extend a special thank you to Hospice of Dubuque, especially Nicole and Jeanette and to the girls who took care of “Bobby B”.
