I am thinking of all of Aunt Rose’s family this morning, gathered together for a Mass in her memory. There are so many words the word mother evokes, I’m thinking thru them as I write this. God bless Aunt Rose on her final journey home and my heartfelt sympathy to all of her family.

My dad, Lawrence C Lechtenberg was a first cousin of Rose and her siblings. Their mothers were sisters and seemed to be very close from the stories I heard from my dad! The cousins were very close since their mothers were close. They had Sunday dinners together nearly every week! This is getting to be an end of a generation of great families who came from New Vienna. My sympathy to Rose's family members!

Aunt Rose was a wonderfully sweet woman, a total believer, filled with compassion with a great sense of humor. I remember meeting her at times in the hospital and in care centers where she came to visit people to brighten their day. I also remember her coming to see me when I was ill and in the hospital (or laid up) several times in my life. She always brought her wonderful smile and care and brightened your day. I regret that I am tied up with a burial and Christmas things this weekend, and will not be able to attend her funeral and see the family. My best to you all and my prayers. I have already offered a Mass for the repose of her soul.
