Obituary for Ruth I Vierkant (McIntyre)
Ruth I. Vierkant, 90, of Dubuque died Monday, May 6, 2019. Visitation will be from 9 to 10:15 a.m. Thursday at Summit Congregational United Church of Christ followed by the funeral service Thursday at 1030 a.m. Ruth was born July 16, 1928 in Dubuque, Iowa, daughter of Elmer and Minnie (Mallder) McIntyre.
She graduated from Dubuque Senior High School.
On September 4, 1948 she married Erwin Vierkant at the “Little Brown Church” in Nassua, Iowa. He preceded her in death on April 28, 2013.
Ruth worked for the Dubuque Battery Factory, Montgomery Wards, Weber Paper Company, Janlen Plastics and was an elevator operator at the Hotel Julien.
She is survived by four children, Glen (Molly) Vierkant of Green Bay, WI, Erich (Sheila) Vierkant of Dubuque, Karen (Ron) Mills of Dubuque, and Kurt Vierkant of Dyersville; 12 grandchildren, 16 great grandchildren and a sister, Delores Mielnicki.
She was also preceded in death by a brother, Everett McIntyre.
The Egelhof, Siegert and Casper Westview Funeral Home and Crematory is in charge of arrangements.
The family would like to thank Hospice of Dubuque and Sunset Park Place for their compassionate care.
