Obituary for John R Schulz

John R  Schulz
John R. (Jack) Schulz, 82, of Dubuque died at 1:00 a.m., Sunday, April 06, 2014 at Ennoble Manor surrounded by his family. Visitation will be from 4 to 8 pm Tuesday at the Egelhof, Siegert & Casper Westview Funeral Home and Crematory, 2659 Kennedy Road. Burial will be in Dubuque Memorial Gardens.
John was born June 26, 1931 in Dubuque, son of Gustav and Hazel (Stevens) Schulz. He married Maureen Kelly in 1961.
John loved playing fast pitch softball and was inducted into the Fast Pitch softball Hall of Fame in 1990 and the Kiwanis Tournament Hall of Fame in 1991. He was an avid Chicago Cubs fan.
He is survived by six children, Kim (Mike) Clemen, Tammy (Fiance Chad Winter) Schulz, Jack (Cindy) Schulz, Mick Schulz, Ron (Tammy) Schulz and Misty (Jason) Adams, all of Dubuque; a step daughter, Sharon (Jim) Riley of Dubuque; 13 grandchildren, Carrie (Andy), Amber, Megan (Jesse), Heather, Tyler, Alex, Karlee, Caleb, Shelby, Dustin, Nick, Clay, Kylie; 4 step- grandchildren, Kara, Rob (Tracy), Scott and Jennifer; many great grandchildren and a sister, Darlene Turnmeyer of Dubuque.
He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Harold and Carl.
The family would like to thank the nurses and staff at Ennoble Manor, Unity Point Health-Finley Hospital for their care and Bruce who helped John at Davis Apartments.
A John Schulz Memorial Fund has been established.
