Obituary for Florence M Kactro (Hermann)

Florence M  Kactro (Hermann)
Florence M. Kactro, 90 of Bethany Home, died Monday, April 14, 2014 at Mercy Medical Center. Funeral services will be held at 3:00 p.m. Wednesday, April 16, 2014 at St. Columbkille Catholic Church with the Rev. Gabriel Anderson and the Rev. Msgr. Carlton Hermann officiating. Burial will be in Mt. Calvary Cemetery. Friends may call from 1:30 p.m. until time of services Wednesday at the church.

Florence was born on January 13, 1924 in Rockford, Iowa, the daughter of Carlton and Lydia (Vala) Hermann. She received her RN degree from the Mercy Hospital School of Nursing and worked on the obstetrics floor at Mercy for 35 years. On June 12, 1947, Florence married Michael Kactro at the Church of The Nativity. Family was the most important thing in the world to Florence and was the cornerstone in her life. She enjoyed reading, gardening and baking her famous apple pie.

Surviving is her husband, Michael of Dubuque; her children Anne (Rick) Juergens of Decorah, IA, Mary (Joe) Trannel of East Dubuque, IL, Mike (Heidi) Kactro of West Bend, WI, Barb (Bob) Larsen of Chicago, IL and Sue (Rick) Thibadeau of Dubuque, IA; her grandchildren, Ben (Steph) Trannel, Ryan (Robyn) Trannel, Alex Trannel, Gretchen (Tony) Sisco, Jennifer (Mike) Hoffman, Mike Larsen, Jill (Chris) Schulte, Jeff Thibadeau, Curtis, Kyle and Christopher Kactro; 8 great grandchildren; her brother, Rev. Msgr. Carlton Hermann and her sister, Joan (Martin) Mazourek.

She was preceded in death by her sister Bea Hermann and her parents.

Memorials may be given to the Florence M. Kactro memorial fund, Bethany Home, Mercy Medical Center or to a charity of choice.

Florence's family wishes to extend a special thank you Drs. Thomas Sinsky and Mark Janes, the nurses and staff at Mercy Medical Center and the staff at Bethany Home for their care and support.
