Obituary for LaVerne Bottoms

LaVerne “Verne” Bottoms, 82, of ManorCare Health Services died Thursday, June 5, 2014 at ManoreCare.

Funeral services will be 1:00 p.m. Monday, June 9 at the Egelhof, Siegert & Casper Westview Funeral Home and Crematory, 2659 JFK Road. Burial will be in Rockdale Cemetery. There will be no visitation prior to services.

Verne was born on May 5, 1932 in Dubuque, the son of Alfred and Marian (Welter) Bottoms.

Verne farmed on the family farm for his entire life. He enjoyed working with the cattle, gardening and being around the animals.

He was a member of Rockdale Methodist Church, where he was baptized.

Surviving are his sisters, Ruth Elaine Kiel, of Bellevue, IA, Dorothy (Harlan) Robey, of Sherrill, IA and June (Duane) Bradfield, of Dubuque; and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Quentin (Ursula) Bottoms; sister, Mary Jane Bottoms; brother-in-law, Norbert Kiel.
