Donald F. Mareske 93, of Dubuque passed away on Sunday, June 29, 2014 at Luther Manor Care Center. Funeral Services will be 11 a.m., Monday, July 7, 2014 at St. Matthew Lutheran Church, 1780 White Street conducted by Rev. Pamela Starr. Family will greet friends 2 pm. - 5 p.m., Sunday, July 6, 2014 at Egelhof, Siegert & Casper Westview Funeral Home & Crematory, 2659 John F. Kennedy Rd, additional visitation will be one hour prior to services Monday at the church. Graveside Service will be 2 pm., Monday, July 7, 2014 at Dubuque Memorial Gardens.

Donald was born May 28, 1921 in Dubuque, the son of Ernest and Anna (Spiegelhalter) Mareske. He graduated from Dubuque Senior High School. Donald was a member of St. Matthew Lutheran Church serving as a trustee and in the choir for 80 years, volunteered at Luther Manor and enjoyed golfing and pared Bunker Hill at the age of 90 and fishing. Donald enjoyed all sports and was an excellent softball hitter and catcher. He was the 1965 City of Dubuque Match Play Champion. He worked as a machine operator for Farley & Lechers, Caradco and retired from Clarke College in the maintenance department.

Survivors include his brother, Ernest (Lois) Mareske of Dubuque; one niece and two nephews.

Donald was preceded in death by his parents.

Memorials may be made to St. Matthew Lutheran Church in Donald's memory.
