Eloise M Meyer (Anderson)
Eloise M. Meyer, 87, of Stonehill Care Center, formerly of 2315 Martin Dr., passed away peacefully Tuesday, July 15, 2014 at Finley Hospital.

Eloise was born on January 13, 1927 at home in Waterville, Iowa, the only child of Victor C. and Delories (Hermanson) Anderson, weighing only 3 1/2 pounds.
At the age of 17 she moved from Elma, Iowa, to Dubuque to attend Finley School of Nursing. While in school she met the love of her life, Ben Meyer. They were married on Thanksgiving Day, November 25, 1948 at Nativity Catholic Church.
Together they shared a love only few were lucky enough to find. They took joy in spending time with their children, grandchildren, and great- grandchildren. She had a beautiful marriage with so much special love from Ben and family.
Being a Registered Nurse was a passion of Eloise's. She worked full and part time for 28 years at Finley Hospital briefly at Xavier Hospital (1 year), then returned to Finley for a total of 43 years and was able to enjoy 25 years of retirement.
Co- workers always talked of Eloise as being kind, generous and loving in all of her relationships with her patients and staff. After she retired she still considered herself a R. O. N. "Real Old Nurse".
Although she achieved many accomplishments through her nursing career she will be remembered, most importantly, for her kind, generous and loving spirit. She was an expert in her field and treated everyone as she would a close friend. She took great pride in being an R.N.
Eloise especially enjoyed going to the Village Inn with her family and friends on a regular basis.
Those left to cherish her memory are her children, Christopher Meyer, Cathy (Terry) Nauman, and Carolyn (Jay) Gottschalk, all of Dubuque; grandchildren, Dr. Sonya (Todd Wolter) Meyer, Aaron Meyer, Grant Meyer, Troy (Jenny) Steffen, Stacey Wiest (Luke Abbitt), Nick (Tara Bragg) Steffen, Eric Nauman (Lisa Truitt) , and Nathan Steffen; great- grandchildren, Isabel Eloise, Ben, Shane, Raelyn Rose, Hailey, and Adelyn Grace; brother-in-law, Dr. John (Mary) Meyer; sister-in-law, Judy Meyer; niece, Mary Anne (Bill) Stegeman; special nephew, John Meyer; special friends, Agnes Wagner and Marie Vogt; and her nurse buddies, Ann Fessler, Alice Weick, Marlene Frye and Janet Dwane .
She was preceded in death by her husband, Ben; her parents; special brother-in-law, Joe Meyer and George Meyer; sister-in-law, Mary Catherine (Bob) Weydert; special friends, Darla (Clete) Pillard and Marge (Ted) Siefker; and her beloved dog, Minnie.
