Leola D. Calonder, 88, of Durango, passed away on Monday, Sept. 15, 2014 at Heritage Manor.
Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m., Friday, Sept. 19 at Sherrill United Methodist Church. Burial will be in Linwood Cemetery. Friends may call from 2 – 8p.m., Thursday at the Egelhof, Siegert & Casper Westview Funeral Home and Crematory, 2659 JFK Road and from 9: 45 – 10:45 a.m., Friday at the Church.
Leola was born on September 3, 1926 in Sherrill, IA the daughter of Harry and Emma (Hammerand) Wetter.
She married Kenneth Calonder on May 13, 1957, in Sherrill.
Leola was a wonderful homemaker and enjoyed being with her family.
She was a member of Sherrill United Methodist Women’s Society and the Farm Bureau Women’s Committee.
Surviving is her husband, Kenneth; her children, Sue (Roger) Beck, of Manchester, IA., Ron (Lynn) Calonder, of Rickardsville, IA., Kevin Calonder, of Durango, Steve (Trista) Calonder, of Sumner, IA; grandchildren, Shane, Troy and Austin Beck, Kendra Calonder, Austin, Aidan, Nathanial, Ethan, Noah, and Hannah Calonder; Brothers and sisters-in-Law, Joe Rosemeyer, of East Dubuque, Bruce (Linda) Watters, of Dubuque, Theresa Wetter, of Sherrill, Keith (Shirley) Calonder of Durango.
She was preceded in death by her son, Bob; parents; and siblings, Violet Rosemeyer, Myrtle Watters, and Milton Wetter.
A Leola Calonder memorial fund has been established.
