Miriam F. Hennig, 97, of Dubuque, died Sunday, October 12, 2014 at Luther Manor. Private family services will be held at the Egelhof, Siegert & Casper Westview Funeral Home and Crematory. Burial will be in Mt. Calvary Cemetery.
Miriam was born November 19, 1916 in Dubuque, Iowa, daughter of William and Mary (Otto) Erner. She graduated from Dubuque Senior High School. On September 2, 1937 she married Harold Hennig in Dubuque. He preceded her in death in 1975.
In 1959 the family moved down the river by houseboat. They owned and operated a café in Ashland City, Tennessee, then moved to Arkansas. She returned to Dubuque in 1983.
She is a past member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Arkadelphia and Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Dubuque. She enjoyed Scrabble and crossword puzzles.
Miriam is survived by three children, Carole (Tom) Kueper of Dubuque, Dolores Bashaw of Greenbrier, Arkansas, and Kenneth (Gail) Hennig of Alto, New Mexico; seven grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren.
She was also preceded in death by her parents, three brothers, two sisters, and a son in law, Jim Bashaw.
