Annabelle G. McMahon, 86, of Luther Manor, formerly of 395 York St., died Thursday, November 20, 2014 at Luther Manor.
Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, Nov. 22, 2014 at St. Columbkille Church with Rev. Gabriel Anderson officiating. A visitation will be held from 9:00 a.m.- 10:15 a.m., Saturday at the Church. Burial will be in Mount Olivet Cemetery, Key West.
Egelhof, Siegert & Casper Westview Funeral Home and Crematory is in charge of arrangements.
Annabelle was born Jan. 2, 1928, in Harpers Ferry, Iowa, to William and Rose (Arsenault) Shields.
She attended elementary and high school in Harpers Ferry until her family moved to Dubuque in 1944 after the death of her father. She graduated from St. Joseph Academy in 1945.
She married David L. McMahon on Sept. 27, 1947, at the Church of the Nativity, Dubuque. They had been members of St. Columbkille Parish since 1947.
Annabelle worked at Rosheks/Armstrong's Department Store, in the Infants and Children's Department, from 1969 until her retirement in 1990.
She especially enjoyed family gatherings, Women's Card Club, bridge groups, flower gardening, collecting angel figurines, cooking/baking, and sewing/needlework.
Surviving are her husband of 67 years, David McMahon; three daughters, Anne (Richard) Hesse of Menomonee, Falls, Wis., Sheila (Myron) Tranel of Platteville, Wis., and Donna (Daniel) Stehn of Peosta; and a son, Stephen, of Dubuque.
Also five grandchildren: Molly (James Cho) Stehn, Katie (Ethan Esser) Stehn, Maggie Stehn, Luke (Pam) Tranel, and Laura (Danny) Holt; plus five great-grandchildren: Sylvia and Danny Cho; and Henry, Oliver, and Rosemary Tranel.
She is also survived by a sister-in-law, Pearl McMahon, of Orange, Calif.
She was preceded in death by a son, James McMahon; her parents, William, Sr. and Rose Shields; a sister, Mary Harjehausen; and two brothers, William Shields, Jr. and Gerald Shields.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Columbkille Parish.
Family members are grateful for the kind care provided by Luther Manor Care at Home and by Luther Manor staff members in all departments.
