Obituary for Carl Moses

Carl Moses
Carl LeRoy Moses, 79, passed from mortality to immortality on December 1, 2014, at home surrounded by family. He now rests in the arms of his Heavenly Father free from the cancer with which he has struggled for over a year.
Private grave-side services will be held at Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens on Merle Hay Road in Des Moines, IA where other family grave sites are located. Egelhof, Siegert & Casper Westview Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements, 2659 John F Kennedy Road.
Carl was born on September 19, 1935 in Edgar Springs, MO, to Leslie and Elizabeth Roseberry. His father, Leslie, was killed in Belgium on January 23, 1944 while serving in the United States Army in WWII. Six months later Elizabeth passed away leaving Carl and his 5 siblings orphaned. After living with relatives and a prospective guardian family for two years, the six children were adopted by Jesse L and T. Lena Moses of Des Moines, IA. This new family also included Robert Moses who had previously been adopted.
Carl graduated from Des Moines Technical High School and worked for the Iowa Air National Guard for 5 years. He then began a 38 year career with Crescent Electric Supply Company. He managed Crescent branches in Burlington, IA, Joliet, IL, Greensboro/High Point, NC and Dubuque, IA. Carl retired in 1999. After his retirement he engaged in his passion for golf at The Meadows and Bunker Hill Golf Course. The elusive hole-in-one was achieved on September 8, 2009, at The Meadows. Carl faithfully attended Hope Evangelical Free Church in Dubuque where he was part of the Host/Ushering ministry.
Carl and Sandra Lea Seath were married on September 21, 1956. They were blessed with three daughters: Kimberly (Robert) Hunt of Gray, TN, Valerie Moses of St. Charles, IL, and Traci (Eric) Olson of Abingdon, MD. His wife and daughters survive along with five grandchildren: Andrew (Lauren) Kidd and Hannah, Brianna, Karisse and Christian Olson. He is also survived by two brothers, Dr. Larry (Jean) Moses and Robert (Karin) Moses; one sister, Phyllis Snell; a brother-in-law, Robert Hertz and nieces and nephews. Two children of Edith Moses, Donna French and Roger Hickman, also survive Carl’s passing. He was preceded in death by his parents and three sisters, Cleo Murray, Shirley Hertz and Martha (Don) Hertz.
Carl was deeply loved and appreciated for his wisdom, humor and kindness. He truly was the “wind beneath the wings” of his family.
