Donald M. Licht, 95, of Luther Manor, formerly of 17592 Gardeners Lane died Monday, January 19, 2015 at Luther Manor. Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Wednesday at the Egelhof, Siegert & Casper Westview Funeral Home with the Rev. Pamela Starr officiating. Visitation will be Wednesday at the funeral home from 9 a.m. until time of service. Burial will be in Linwood Cemetery.
Donald was born November 13, 1919 in Dubuque, Iowa, son of Theodore and Frieda (Tropf) Licht. He married Arlene K. Avenarius in 1942, she preceded him in death of March 8, 1986. He married Martha “Marjie” Brode Stierman in 1987. She preceded him in death April 26, 2012.
He worked as a truck driver for Stanley Home and as a driver for Julien Care facility. He was a member of Immanuel Congregational United Church of Christ. Don was a professional drummer with the Don Licht Trio, and retired from drumming at the age of 80.
He is survived by three children, Gary Licht of Vidor, Texas, Karen (Rick) Samuelson of Rockford, Ill, and Terry (Mary Jo) Licht of Dubuque; one step son, William (Eloise) Stierman of Maui, Hawaii and a step son in law Raymond Roidl of Quincey, Ill; eight grandchilderen, Scott Sawvel, Jay Sawvel, Tammy Nolan, Eli Licht, Courtney Smith, Jud Licht, Laura Licht, and Kenny Licht; eight step grandchildren, 22 great grandchildren.
He is also preceded in death by his parents, and three brothers, Kenny LeRoy and Clyde Licht and a step daughter, Mary Agnes Roidl.
A Donald Licht Memorial Fund has been established.
