Obituary for Sylvia J Splinter (Baldwin)
Sylvia J. Splinter, 78, of Stonehill Care Center, formerly of 2259 Chippewa Dr., died Saturday, January 31, 2015.
Funeral services will be 11:30 a.m., Thursday, Feb. 5 at the Egelhof, Siegert & Casper Westview Funeral Home and Crematory, 2659 JFK Road. Burial will be in Dubuque Memorial Gardens. Friends may call from 3-7p.m., Wednesday at the funeral Home.
Sylvia was born on August 26, 1936 in Anna, Illinois the daughter of Everett A. and Myrtle C. (Herbst) Baldwin.
She married James A. Splinter on November 16, 1957 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church.
Sylvia was employed as a secretary at Trausch’s and Iowa Oil. She loved to cook and sew. She was a long time member of St. Mary’s Church, the Rosary Society and Business Women Group.
Surviving are children, James (Kathy McDermott) Splinter; grandchildren, James (Amber) Gassman, Amber (Fiance Michael) Bauer, Nicole (Jeff) Okey, Allen Vrotsos, Dustin Splinter, David Splinter, Mellisa Splinter; step- grandchildren, Adam (Heather) Bauer and April Bauer; 10 great grandchildren; and her son-in-law, Robert Bauer
She was preceded in death by her husband, James; 2 daughters, Shari Vrotsos and Christina Bauer; parents; and sister, Joyce Dudek.
