David V. Carlock, 77, of Dubuque, died Saturday, March 21, 2015 at the University of Iowa Hospital. Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Tuesday, in Dubuque, at St. Luke's United Methodist Church where visitation will be held Tuesday from 9 to 10:45 a.m. Burial will be in Linwood Cemetery.
David was born November 28, 1937 in Dayton, Ohio, son of Vernon and Elaine (Douglas) Carlock. He grew up in Detroit and attended the Art School of Society of Arts and Crafts, majoring in Industrial Design.
David was a car enthusiast and designed model cars working as a design engineer for AMT in Detroit, Ertl's in Dyersville, and for Testor's in Rockford. He was also an accomplished visual artist and painter.
He was a member of St. Luke's United Methodist Church.
He married Jill Heitzman on November 23, 1994.
He is survived by five sons Kyle "Amir" (Cathy) Carlock of Atlanta, Georgia, Karim Carlock of San Diego, California, Rachman (Jessica) Carlock of Fayetteville, South Carolina, Sean "Rahim" Carlock of Atlanta, Georgia, and Benjamin Carlock of Dubuque; his wife, Jill Heitzman of Dubuque; two grandsons, David and Ion Carlock, both of Atlanta; three brothers, Michael (Merilynn) Carlock of Detroit, Mich., Daniel Carlock of White Lake Township, Mich., Conrad Carlock of White Lake Township, Mich.; and two sisters, Merrie (Frank Parkanzky) Carlock of White Lake Township, Mich., and Suzanna Lewis of Oakland, California.
He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Douglas Carlock.
