David F  Schultz
David F. Schultz 71, of Rickardsville, passed away Monday, April 6, 2015 at home surrounded by his loving family. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, April 11, 2015 at St. Joseph's Catholic Church, Rickardsville, Iowa with the Rev. Noah Diehm officiating. Burial will be in St. Joseph's Cemetery with full military honors accorded by the Dubuque Marine Corp League. Visitation will be from 2:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m. Friday, April 10, 2015 at the Egelhof, Siegert & Casper Westview Funeral Home and Crematory, 26549 JFK Rd. where a vigil service will be held at 3:00 p.m.
David was born on the family farm on February 15, 1944, the son of Clarence and Emma (Ellerbach) Schultz. He graduated from Holy Cross High School and farmed his whole life. In addition to farming, David was a sheet plate fabricator at John Deere Dubuque Works for 36 years and was a cook in the Army Reserves. On August 12 1967, he married Nancy Schmitt at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Rickardsville. David was an easy going family man who always put others first. He was a jack of all trades and an avid Atlanta Braves and Green Bay Packer fan. Bowling, cooking, woodworking, playing euchre and being outdoors were some of his favorite past times.
Surviving are his wife of 47 years, Nancy of Rickardsville, IA; his children Brian (Jenny) Schultz of Dubuque, IA and their children Megan and Carter; Jeff (Theresa) Schultz of Dubuque, IA and their children Bethany (Ryan) Hosch, Melanie Schultz and Ryan and Chad Peppmeier; Mike (Jenny) Schultz of Asbury, IA and their children Zach and Zoe; Tracy (Cary) Kloft of Asbury, IA and their daughter Rachel; Jason (Regina Shafer) Schultz of Rickardsville, IA and their children Cohen and Griffen; Timothy (Joel Brewer) Schultz of Ankeny, IA and Chad (Courtney) Schultz of Holy Cross, IA; his sisters LaVonne (Earl) Brimeyer of N. Buena Vista, IA; Donna (Bob) Schmidt of Durango, IA; Connie Klein of Dubuque, IA; Sherry (Marvin) Klein of Holy Cross, IA and Cindy (Paul) Ludovissy of N. Buena Vista, IA; his brother Ron (Marilyn) Schultz of Holy Cross, IA; his sister-in-laws, Debbie (fiancé' Dave Dolan) Linden and Kris Loomis both of Dubuque, IA; brother-in-laws, Rick (Heidi) Schmitt, LeRoy Kedley and Randy Schmitt all of Dubuque, IA; nieces and nephews and many friends. Also surviving is his dog, Quincy.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his 2 sisters Janice Legrand and Carol Errthum; brother-in-laws Robert Legrand, Nicholas Errthum and Jimmy Klein; sister-in-law Barb Kedley and his father and mother-in-law, Ted and Jeanette Schmitt.
A David Schultz memorial fund has been established.
