Obituary for James V Murphy

James V  Murphy
James V. Murphy, 72, of Dubuque died suddenly on Friday, April 17, 2015 at Finley Hospital.
Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m., Wednesday, April 22, 2015 at the Church of the Resurrection. Burial will be in Mt. Olivet Cemetery where full Military Honors will be accorded by the American Legion Post 6. Friends may call from 3 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the Egelhof, Siegert & Casper Westview Funeral Home and Crematory, 2659 Kennedy Road where a wake service will begin at 7:30 p.m.
Jim was born on January 8, 1943 in Chicago, Ill., the son of Clarence and Dorothy (Zoll) Murphy.
He married Sara Wagner on June 14, 1969 at Resurrection Catholic Church.
Jim served our country in the United States Air Force and was a member of the American Legion, Post 6 of Dubuque.
He was employed as an experimental test technician at John Deere until his retirement.
Jim loved to travel and was fortunate to have traveled the world.
He was an active member of the Asbury Eagles Club and a member of Resurrection Parish where he served as a Eucharistic Minister.
Jim was a past member of the Aviation Explorers Post and was a Boy and Cub Scout leader.
Jim volunteered at the Asbury Fire Department and after retiring was on the Board of Directors.
Surviving is his wife, Sara Murphy; his son, Pat (Kathy) Murphy; grandchildren, Kayle and Ryland Murphy; father-in-law, Howard Wagner; sister-in-law, Ann (Greg) Martin; nieces, Emily Martin and Bridget Christensen; and nephew, Mike Sandidge.
He was preceded in death by his son, Timmy Murphy; grandson, Gavin; parents, Clarence and Dorothy; sister, Judy; and mother-in-law, Patt Wagner.
