Obituary for Henry G Kubitz (Kubitz)

Henry G. “Hank” Kubitz 90, of Oak Park Place and formerly of 3165 Kaufmann Ave., passed away Sunday, May 3, 2015 at home. Funeral services will be held at 12:00 Thursday, May 7, 2015 at The Church of The Resurrection with Rev. Mark Murphy officiating. Burial will be in Mt. Calvary Cemetery with military rites accorded by the American Legion Post #6 of Dubuque. Friends may call from 10:30 a.m. to 11:45 a.m. Thursday at the church.
Hank was born on December 25, 1924 in Dubuque, Iowa, the son of George and Minnie (Braener) Kubitz. He attended Loras College and was a veteran of WWII serving with the U.S. Navy. On August 9, 1952, Hank married Clara Kutsch at SS Peter & Paul Catholic Church, Sherrill, Iowa. He was employed with John Deere Dubuque Works for 28 years, retiring in 1987. Hank was a member of Resurrection Parish, American Legion Post #6 of Dubuque and UAW Local 94 Retirees. Hank coached baseball for the Sherrill Little League for 10 years and enjoyed bowling, golfing and horseshoes. He was involved in the Loras College Senior Fitness program for 18 years which lead to his participation in the running and walking events in the Iowa Senior Citizen Games. Hank loved traveling and was a member of the WWII Honor Flight on October 19, 2010.
Surviving are his wife, Clara of Dubuque; his children, Dan (Cindy) Kubitz of Weslaco, TX, Patti (Dennis) Becker of Cedar Rapids, IA, Duane Kubitz of Palm Harbor, FL, Doug (Kathy) Kubitz of Niceville, FL, and Daryl (Kathy) Kubitz of Cuba City, WI; 10 grandchildren, 13 great grandchildren; his siblings, Donald Kubitz and Shirley Regan both of Dubuque, IA and Bonnie Mulhalland of New Albin, IA and a sister-in-law Phyllis Blichmann of Dubuque, IA
He was preceded in death by 2 brothers, Arlan and David and his parents.

The Egelhof, Siegert & Casper Westview Funeral Home and Crematory, 2659 JFK Rd. is in charge of arrangements.
