Obituary for Barbara Anne Freund (Cupps)
Barbara Anne Freund, 81, of Dubuque died Monday, May 4, 2015 at home. Visitation will be from 3 to 8 pm Thursday at the Egelhof, Siegert and Casper Westview Funeral Home and Crematory, 2659 Kennedy Road where there will be a parish wake service at 7:30. Funeral Mass will be 10 a.m. Friday at St. Anthony's Catholic Church with Rev. Steve Rosonke officiating. Burial will be in Resurrection Cemetery.
Barbara was born June 5, 1933 in Dubuque, Iowa, daughter of Edward and Viola (McPoland) Cupps. She married Richard Freund on October 29, 1955 at St. Anthony's. He preceded her in death on November 3, 1995.
She was proud to be a stay at home mom until her youngest child was 16. She then worked at the Gannon Center for 15 years, retiring when she was 70. She was an avid volunteer, volunteering for the Dubuque Arboretum and Birthright.
Barbara enjoyed playing Bunco, mall walking, traveling with her sister, and gardening. She was very active and loved spending time with her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren.
She is survived by six children, Marie (Georg) Moeller of Potosi, Wisc. and their children, Elysia and Max; Cheryl (Larry) Ladwig of Fall River, Wisc. and their children, Ben, Jason (Becky), Emily (Will), and Nathan; Alan (Margie) Freund of Dubuque and their children, Michelle, Megan and Jake; Paula Freund and her son DeVante; Eric Freund and his children, Zack and Amber; and Andrea (Bobby) Daniels and their children, Alyssa and Marcus; five great grandchildren; a sister, Joan Neuses; two sisters in law, Virginia and Jean Cupps; a brother in law, Ken Konzen; and many nieces and nephews.
She was also preceded in death by her siblings, Gerald, Robert, Mary Ellen, Kenneth and Virginia.
A Barbara Freund Memorial Fund has been established.
