Obituary for Barbara Mills (Koob)
Barbara "Barbee" Mills, 80, passed away on Wednesday, May 13, 2015 at her sister Kris Noonan’s home, 2115 Sunnyview Drive, Dubuque.
Funeral services will be 10 a.m., Monday, May 18 at St. Anthony's Catholic Church, with the Rev. Steven Rosonke officiating. Burial will be in Mt. Olivet Cemetery. Friends may call from 4 to 7 p.m., Sunday at the Egelhof, Siegert & Casper Westview Funeral Home and Crematory, 2659 Kennedy Road.
Barbee was born on February 4, 1935 in Dubuque, the daughter of Clarence (Lefty) and Margaret A. (Donahue) Koob.
After college she was an x-ray technician at Xavier Hospital, a stewardess for the California Zephyr Train, and was employed at Thermoline and Browns Publishing.
On September 21, 1963 she married Leroy “Roy” Mills. He preceded her in death on April 9, 2006.
Barbee was a wonderful homemaker and enjoyed creweling. Spending time with her family was most important and she always looked forward to seeing her nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews.
Surviving are her sisters, Kris (Jim) Noonan and Karen Dorshkind, both of Dubuque; Her nieces and nephews Julie Hayes of Galena, IL, Jaime (John) Ward of California, Sean (Shanda) Noonan of Des Moines, Molly (Bill) Bodish and Erin (Russ) Tomkins of Dubuque; great nieces and nephews, Clayton, Connor, Jack, Cody, Hope, Ella, Tanner and Aubrey; her step children, Barbara Larkin, of Washington D.C., John K (Jody) Mills and Jeannie (Steven) Heiberger, both of Dubuque; six step grandchildren, Martha (Chris Sosa) Heiberger, of Chicago, Meredith (Steven) Halverson, of Dyersville, Joseph (Ashley) Heiberger of Sycamore, IL., Jonathan Heiberger, of Chicago, Ill., Russell Mills, of Greensboro, NC and Darin (Kelly) Mills, of Dubuque; and 4 great step grandchildren, Liam, Sadie, Chelsey and Tate.
She was also preceded in death by her parents; sister, Margaret Cramer; and niece Martie Cramer.
