Helen R. Czipar, 92, of Luther Manor, formerly of the Woodland's died peacefully on Saturday June 27, 2015 with her family by her side.
Funeral services will be 10:00 a.m., Wednesday, July 1 at St. Anthony's Catholic Church, with Rev. Steven Rosonke officiating. Burial will be in Mt. Calvary Cemetery. Friends may call from 3 to 7 p.m., Tuesday at the Egelhof, Siegert & Casper Westview Funeral Home and Crematory, 2659 John F. Kennedy Road and from 9 to 9: 45 a.m., Wednesday at the Church.
Helen was born on June 1,1923 in Dubuque, the daughter of Anton and Gladys (Holmes) Bernhard.
She married Joseph P. Czipar on August 9, 1945 in Dubuque . He preceded her in death on June 7, 1973.
Helen was employed as a catalog manager at JC Penny's for over 20 years.
She was a longtime member of St. Anthony's Catholic Church and St. Anne's Circle.
Helen loved her family and cherished time spent with them.
Christmas was her favorite holiday and every year she made it special.
Every fall she would take her grandchildren and great grandchildren back to school shopping, and they would each pick out their first day of school outfit.
She enjoyed traveling, and later in life playing euchre and bridge.
Those left to cherish her memory include her daughters, Pauline (Larry) Donahue and Sandra Sullivan, both of Dubuque; grandchildren, R. Joseph Kennedy, Becky (Brad) Plummer, Kris (Bill) Donahue, Sara (Eric) Weiland and Amanda (Jude) Herrig; great grandchildren, Emma and Ellie Akins, Courtney (Kyle) Tuthill, Laura (Jake) Trierweiler, and Dakota Tuthill, Morgan Gold and Reese Weiland, and Grace and Riley Herrig; 2 great- great grandchildren, Aiden Seamen and Wyatt Trierweiler.
She was also preceded in death her parents; brothers, Kenneth and Mark Bernhard; and sisters, Gladys Mae, in infancy, Marie Long, and Ione Baule.

In lieu of flowers memorials may be given to Luther Manor activities department, Hospice of Dubuque or St. Anthony's Church.
