Deb was born on August 19, 1948 in Dubuque, daughter of Walter and Dorothy (Allen) Kenniker. She attended Senior High School and graduated in 1966. She then continued her studies and graduated from The Finley School of Nursing in 1969 as a Registered Nurse.

Deb's nursing career took her to many different areas of nursing. She began at Finley Hospital where she spent 23 years . Much of that time was spent in the Operating Room & Recovery Room area . Deb was an active member of the Association of Operating Room Nurses (AORN).She then went on to St. Dominic's Villa, Sinsinawa Mound, and finally Ennoble Manor. She also owned and operated DK Ceramics for over 25 years. She thoroughly enjoyed sharing her ceramic knowledge and skills, and was a great teacher to many others.

Along with ceramics, Deb also enjoyed quilting and sewing with her friends. Her creativity knew no bounds and she was struck with inspiration in countless ways throughout her day. Her greatest joys were her nieces and nephews with whom she enjoyed playing games, teaching new skills, and sharing life lessons through hands on training, and innumerable stories of her adventures throughout life. Stories of her travels across the country and tales of her childhood were the source of hours of entertainment and knowledge for her family.

Those left to cherish her memory include her brother, Wayne (Lori) Kenniker of Dubuque; a sister, Tamie (Tom) Stull of Shreveport, LA; nieces and nephews, Chan (Lisa) Kenniker, Jody (Andy) Peavy, Jake (Tara), Sam, and Alex Kenniker, and Gisele (Chris) Fox; great nieces and nephews, Skylyn, Joseph, Alex, Gabby and Liam; and a sister-in-law Judy Kenniker.
