Obituary for Vera M Schumacher (Preu)
Vera M. Schumacher, 86, of Dubuque, died Thursday, August 27, 2015 at Stonehill Care Center. Services will be held on Wednesday, September 2, at Egelhof, Siegert & Casper Westview Funeral Home, 2659 Kennedy Road, Dubuque. Friends may greet the family from 11:00 to noon on Wednesday, and the service will begin at noon.
Vera was born in Musberg, Germany on January 30, 1929. Vera and Joseph H. Schumacher met in Kirchheim, Germany when Joseph was stationed there after World War II. They were married at Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Dubuque on October 4, 1947.
Vera enjoyed her numerous flower gardens throughout her life, and had a profound love of animals.
She is survived by: her four children, Nora (Scott) Gill, of Boise, Idaho; Joseph A. (Nancy) Schumacher of St. Paul, Minnesota; Kenneth (Marie) Schumacher of Cave Creek, Arizona; Marilyn (Donald) Campbell of Washington, Illinois; eight grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.
Vera was preceded in death by her parents, Wilhelm and Marie, and her brother Willie.
