Obituary for Robert Linden

Robert H. Linden, 90, of Dubuque passed away Friday, September 4 at home.

Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:00 am Monday, September 7, at St. Anthony Catholic Church. Rev. Steven Rosonke will officiate. Burial will be in Mt. Calvary Cemetery. Friends may greet the family Sunday, September 6th from 2 pm to 5 pm at the Egelhof, Siegert & Casper Funeral Home, 2659 JFK Road, where a wake service will begin at 4:30 p.m.

Robert was born August 7, 1925, in Dubuque, son of Earl and Elizabeth (Straub) Linden. He attended Holy Ghost Catholic Grade School and Dubuque Senior High School. Robert served his country with the U.S. Army in the Pacific during World War II.

He married Esther T. Nachtman on September 6, 1954 at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in Ryan, IA. She preceded him in death on October 23, 2009.
Robert was a lifelong Dubuquer, and member of St. Anthony’s Catholic Church. He worked for over 40 years at the former Dubuque Packing Company, retiring in 1981. Bob was a member of the UFCW Local 150A.

Those left to honor his memory are his eight children, Dale (Toni) Linden, of Dubuque, Gary (Carol) Linden, of East Dubuque, IL, Janet (Carl) Roling, of Dubuque, Duane Linden, of San Jose, CA, Joyce Hinderman, David Linden, James (Kim) Linden, and Daniel Linden all of Dubuque; 11 grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
Also surviving are his brothers, Donald and Jack Linden of Dubuque, Pete (Darlene) Linden, of East Dubuque, IL; his sisters, Delores Nauman, Char Simon, and Janice (Fred) Wuertzer, all of Dubuque; sister-in-law, Ida Marie Linden; and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, Esther Linden, brothers, Tom and Delbert; his sister-in-law, Dorothy Linden, brothers-in-law, Charles Nauman and Paul Simon.

Robert’s children would like to extend a special thank you to Hospice of Dubuque especially Betsy, Elizabeth and Nicole for their tender loving care of our Dad.
