Obituary for Maureen L Billmeyer (Blocker)
Maureen L. Billmeyer, 85, of Dubuque died Friday, September 11, 2015 at home. Funeral Mass will be 10 a.m. Tuesday at St. Anthony's Catholic Church. Entombment will be in Mt. Calvary Cemetery Mausoleum. In keeping with Maureen's wishes, there will be no public visitation. The Egelhof, Siegert & Casper Westview Funeral Home and Crematory is in charge of arrangements.
Maureen was born March 1, 1930 in Dubuque, daughter of Henry and Catherine (Lyness) Blocker. After graduating from St. Joseph Academy, she worked as a telephone operator until her marriage to Gilbert Billmeyer on June 13, 1953 at Nativity Church.
She was a loving wife and mother and was a long time member of St. Mary's Catholic Church.
She is survived by her husband, Gilbert Billmeyer of Dubuque; four children, Thomas Billmeyer of Dubuque, Richard Billmeyer of Irvine, Calif., Mary Beth Rupert of Naperville, Ill., and Colleen (Troy) Martens of Cedar Rapids; three grandchildren, Neal and Stuart Tjon-A-Joe and Zoey Billmeyer; a brother, Tom Blocker of Elgin, Ill., and a sister in law, Jeanette Smith of Johnston, Iowa.
She was preceded in death by a daughter, Carol Tjon-A-Joe and a brother, Richard Blocker.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Hospice of Dubuque.
