Edward A  Beard
Edward A. Beard, 92, of Stonehill Care Center, formerly of Earl Drive and Assisi Village died Friday, September 18, 2015 of natural causes.
Funeral services will be 10:00 a.m., Monday, September 21 at First Baptist Church. Burial will be in Linwood Cemetery where Military Honors will be accorded by the Dubuque Marine Corps League. A visitation will be held from 9:00 - 10:00 a.m., Monday at the Church. The Egelhof, Siegert & Casper Westview Funeral Home and Crematory, 2659 John F. Kennedy Road is in charge of the arrangements.
Edward was born on January 27, 1923 in Augusta County, Virginia the son of Edward and Anna Ruth (Aldhizer) Beard.
He was raised in rural Virginia until he was called to service in March of 1943. Edward served our country in the United States Army Air Corp during WWII and the Korean Conflict. He was a proud participant of the Honor Flight #2.
On March 6, 1945 he married Margaret Anne Morrissey in Bloomington, Wisconsin.
He was employed at Sear's as a radio and television technician for 37 years.
Ed and Margaret enjoyed traveling in their RV after retirement.
He was passionate about woodcarving and was known for carvings of toys and small animals and was a member of a woodcarving club in Dubuque.
Ed was a member of First Baptist Church.
Surviving are his daughters, Sandra (Don Brazelton) Taylor, of Ankeny, IA, Diane (Richard) Kupferschmidt, of Cedar Falls, IA, Linda (Gerald) Dressler of Dickeyville, WI, and Anne (Stephen Fails) Beard of Oak Park, VA; 5 grandchildren, Laura (John) Lee, Blake (Erin) Taylor, Kelly Kupferschmidt, Lee Dressler, and Zoe Beard- Fails; 4 great- grandchildren, Chase, Kedrick, and Alton Lee and Lennon Taylor; siblings, Margaret (Kenneth) Coffey, Lucius (Lillian) Beard, Harry (Margaret) Beard; and sister-in-law, Gail Beard.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Margaret; sister, Martha Beard; brother, Robert Beard; and half brother, Arthur Boyd Miller.
