Eileen S  Ball (Kremer)
Eileen S. Ball, 91, of Dubuque, died Tuesday, September 29, 2015, surrounded by her loving family. Funeral Services will be 11 a.m. Saturday, October 3 at Immanuel Congregational United Church of Christ. Burial will be at Linwood Cemetery. Visitation will be from 3 to 7 pm Friday at the Egelhof, Siegert & Casper Westview Funeral Home and Crematory, 2659 Kennedy Rd, Dubuque and from 9:45 to 10:45 a.m. Saturday at the church.
Mrs. Eileen Ball, the former Eileen Susan Kremer, was born November 6, 1923 in Dubuque, daughter of Leonard and Margaret (Thoeni) Kremer. She graduated from Dubuque Senior High School in 1942. Eileen was married to Eldon Ball September 9, 1944 at Immanuel Congregational United Church of Christ in Dubuque and together they celebrate 64 happy years of marriage. He preceded her in death on May 2, 2008.
Eileen was employed by the Dubuque Community School District for 20 years as a secretary at Bryant and Hoover Elementary Schools before retiring in 1986. She was also an Avon representative for many years.
She was an active, long time member of Immanuel Congregational United Church of Christ. She was a past member of the Diaconate and Mission boards and taught Sunday School for many years. Eileen was also on the Memorial committee for several years.
Eileen loved bowling and played in the Guys and Gals and Retired Friday groups for several years. She also loved the Hawkeyes, Cubs, and her dog, Molly, whom she enjoyed taking for walks. Other enjoyments of hers were meeting for the Class of '42 luncheons, Women's Fellowship, Hospice Grief Support group, and the LIfetime Center exercise group.
Eileen was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother who dearly loved, and was proud of, her family. She was a great cook and enjoyed cooking for holiday meals and family gatherings.
Those left to cherish her memory include her six children, Judy (Terry) Barkhurst of Dubuque, James (Susan) Ball of South Korea, William (Patsy) Ball of Dubuque, Barbara (James) Kubesheski of Lake Geneva, WI, Margaret (Charles) Denney of Port Byron, Ill., and Martin (Amy) Ball of Medina, OH; 16 grandchildren, 22 great grandchildren, two step grandchildren and seven step great grandchildren; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Eileen was also preceded in death by her parents, two brothers James and Glen Kremer, mother and father in law Flora and Martin Ball, stepfather Frank Butler, and brother in law Milton Ball, sister in law Vernie Mudroch and an aunt, Arlene Kintzle.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to the Eileen S. Ball Memorial Fund.

The family would like to thank Dick and Sherry, and Joyce for their daily care with her precious dog, Molly; her church buddy, Bob Rusk; the nurses and staff of Hospice of Dubuque; and Julie, the volunteer who came in on a weekly basis.
