Maxine P. Huberty, 89, formerly of Dubuque, died peacefully Monday, April 4, 2016 at Sunrise Terrace, Winfield, Iowa. Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. Saturday at the Egelhof, Siegert & Casper Westview Funeral Home and Crematory, 2659 Kennedy Road where friends may call Saturday from 9 to 10:15 a.m. Burial will be in Little Grant Union Cemetery, Grant County, Wisc.
Maxine was born November 10, 1926 in Little Grant Township, Wisc., daughter of Lutie and Myrl (Van Natta) Garthwaite and grew up on a farm near Lancaster. She married Marvin V. Huberty on May 25, 1948 in Lancaster. He preceded her in death on October 24, 2000.
In 1947 she graduated from Mercy Hospital School of Nursing and worked as a registered nurse at Finley Hospital for over 30 years.
Maxine was a devout Catholic who attended daily Mass. She was a past member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church, then attended the Church of the Resurrection. She enjoyed crafts and sewing, and was an accomplished artist and oil painter.
She is survived by four children, Linda Cihacek of Council Bluffs, Iowa, Craig (Kathy) Huberty of Fairplay, Wisc., Marilyn Huberty of Mashpee, Mass., and Angela (Randy) Gibbs of Mount Union, Iowa, 14 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren, and two sisters, LaVon (Tom) Severson of Stoughton, Wisc. and Sandra (William) Zart of Oregon, Wisc.
She was also preceded by her parents and brother, Donald Garthwaite. And her son in law Gary Birdsley.
Memorials may be given to the Alzheimer’s Association.
