Robert L. "Bob" Phillips, 72, of Dubuque went home to be with the Lord Thursday morning, April 17, 2014. Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Tuesday, April 22, 2014 at Our Redeemer Lutheran Church where visitation will be held Tuesday from 9:45 a.m. to 10:45 a.m.
Bob was born November 26, 1941 in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, son of Robert and Cecelia (deRanitz) Phillips. He married Alice Hurst on March 18, 1961 at Cross Lutheran Church, Milwaukee, Wisc. They moved to Dubuque in 1963 when Bob went to work for Edwards Concrete. Bob and his partners purchased the company in 1974 and Bob continued working there until his retirement in 2007.
Bob was a member of Our Redeemer Lutheran Church and served as an Usher, Elder and was on the Board of Trustees.
He is survived by his wife, Alice Phillips of Dubuque; four children, Rev. Michael (Amy) Phillips of Lima, Ohio, and their children, Noah and Josiah; Susan (Bob) Rehfeldt of Dubuque, and their children, Ryan, Emily and Taylor; Mark Phillips of Dubuque; and Bob Phillips, Jr., of Dubuque and his children, Chad and Dyllon; Three brothers, Roger (Barbara), Bill (Pat) and Earl (Karen) Phillips; two sisters, Janice (Will) Memmel, and Jean Kozinski. He is also survived by a sister in law, Joan Phillips.
He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Dennis and James.
Memorials may be made to Our Redeemer Lutheran Church or Hospice of Dubuque.
The Egelhof, Siegert and Casper Westview Funeral Home and Crematory is in charge of arrangements.
The family would like to thank Drs. Sullivan and Janes, Hospice of Dubuque, especially Angela and Amy for their wonderful care.
